a Daylong Meditation retreat

I want to share a little bit about what to expect and a day long, silent meditation retreat.

I am thrilled and honored…excited to be offering these starting later on this year and hopefully longer ones in the coming years. The daylong retreats are silent and we meet for approximately seven hours, closer to eight sometimes depending on the schedule. By no means are you sitting down meditating the whole time, there are retreats where you do that, but this isn't that. It'll be a beautiful mix of a few Dharma talks to talk about the intention of the retreat and offer a little bit of teaching. There'll be some guided seated meditation, silent meditation. There will be meditations where we walk, there will be mindful movement to help you inhabit your body and stretch out. There might even be a rest period where you can go lay in the grass or you can take a nap. And then we're going to have lunch together it will be a silent meal, which if you've never had a silent meal is a very cool experience.

Often when we hear about a silent retreat we may think “oh a silent retreat, that sounds really really hard.” There's parts of it that might lovingly push you and challenge you, but it's by no means out of reach. I keep it interesting, engaging. I don't have you in one place for so long, that you're really really struggling to stay there.

What I find is that as we set down our technology and we create community, we create the space for life to arise. We get in touch with parts of ourselves that perhaps we haven't been in touch with in a very long time. And my personal experience is that certain feelings that maybe I haven't felt in a very long time, have the space to rise because my nose isn't in my phone every free second. On retreat you might experience gratitude. You might experience an overwhelming sense of joy, purpose, connection, community, space, and stillness.
