Can Yoga for Fertility and Acupuncture for Fertility Really Help Me Get Pregnant?

When women are looking for information on how to help conceive, there are endless suggestions from old wives’ tale remedies to scientific methods, no intervention approaches to total intervention, and of course everything in between. Regardless, it’s always surprising and miraculous when a mama becomes pregnant. Though it’s not always apparent, so much inside the body has to be in alignment for conception to take place.

When looking for methods on how to help conceive, Yoga for Fertility and Acupressure for Fertility can be methods used safely and daily in a woman’s conception toolbox.

The Yoga for Fertility series in the Lauren Yoga membership was created under the guidance of Emily Kuentz, L.Ac., an experienced licensed Acupuncturist & Chinese Herbalist based in the DFW area. Emily’s specialty in women’s health & fertility for almost 20 years combined with Lauren’s 12 years of expertise as a prenatal yoga teacher, and more recently a women’s health yoga instructor, informed this potent series for women on the journey to pregnancy.

The series begins with a PDF guidebook full of helpful tips and information, including a chart to help determine fertile days after period. Knowing cycle length, fertile days, menstruation days, and luteal days is crucial to this process because there are different yoga for fertility classes and meditation for fertility classes for each of the four  phases. Just as a licensed acupuncturist would focus on acupuncture points and meridians to enhance fertility, in each class there are specific acupressure points for fertility that are activated with fingertip pressure.

The human body’s main task is to constantly come back to balance and homeostasis. Everything the body does is to move toward healing and centering. Anything can get in the way of this from genetics to environmental toxins, from stress to mindset, from less-than-optimal organ function to circulation issues.

Yoga for fertility and acupuncture for fertility are two ways to help the body come back to homeostasis and help provide the best possible inner environment for conception to take place.

Most doctors today will agree to adding these practices in on the journey to pregnancy, (and always please inquire directly with medical staff before beginning).

Yoga for Fertility classes look and feel different depending on which is the four phases of her monthly cycle a woman is in. Phase 1 classes for example, the menstrual phase, are designed to help shed the endometrial lining to create a clean slate for Phase 2, the follicular phase, where the follicles are nourished to help ripen prior to ovulation. Each class is meticulously planned and each posture is intentional. Some classes encourage circulation and heat while others encourage softening and letting go.

Also included for each of the four phases of the female cycle is a meditation for fertility. Decades of research show that the mind-body connection is real, and an imperative part of the fertility process is working with thought patterns, worry, attachment to the outcome, and overwhelm. Even a five minute meditation each day matters.

So how does acupuncture for fertility enter the scene here? Acupressure is often called “acupuncture without the needles.” The same theory applies, but instead of a needle it’s a fingertip applied with medium pressure to a certain point for a specific outcome. Acupressure is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which says that when the energy in the body is balanced one is in complete homeostasis and functioning optimally. In this state, the best possible outcome for conception is present. But when the flow of energy gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, it leads to pain, illness, or lack of function in organs or entire systems of the body. So, through gentle stimulation the channels that run along the meridians in the body are invited back into balance.

Modern research has demonstrated acupressure’s effects on the endocrine system (where reproduction happens), nervous system, immune system, cardiovascular and digestive systems. Plus, it helps improve sleep and a sense of well-being, all vital to conception and pregnancy.

Each class in Yoga for Fertility provides guidance on 1-3 acupressure points appropriate for the phase of the cycle the student is in.

Also included for each phase is an optional fertility blend of essential oils. Essential oils for fertility when used in conjunction with acupressure points, when diffused, or when applied topically in another way can add to the overall experience and help support the body. Suggestions are provided for doTERRA and Young Living oils.

Yoga for Fertility alone would be beneficial on the journey to pregnancy, as would Acupuncture for Fertility. Combing the two in this online series has the potential to usher a woman through this process with reproductive support, peace of mind, and sense that she’s taking an active role in the journey.
